Care and Maintenance

At Lanetta Jewellery, each piece is carefully handcrafted using premium gold plating and 925 Sterling Silver Stainless Steel where indicated.

To preserve your jewellery, we recommend removing it before swimming, showering, washing your hands, or completing household tasks.

It’s also best to take your pieces off before sleeping, exercising, or carrying heavy items. Contact with water, chemicals, and friction can accelerate wear on gold plating. Please note that gold plating is not permanent, and exposure to products such as perfumes, lotions, sunscreens, hairsprays, soaps, and salt or chlorinated water may affect both the metal and any stones.

Opals are naturally porous gemstones and should be protected from prolonged exposure to water, perfumes, lotions, and harsh chemicals.

When not in use, store your jewellery in a dry, protected space away from direct sunlight and moisture. Your original Lanetta pouch is ideal for safe keeping. Gently wiping your pieces after wear and before storing will help remove any oils or residue that could contribute to tarnishing.

Over time, it is natural for sterling silver and gold-plated jewellery to develop some tarnish or show signs of wear. This occurs through exposure to moisture, air, and everyday substances, and is not considered a manufacturing fault. Avoid excessive polishing, as this can wear down the gold layer and alter its appearance. Keeping your jewellery in an airtight container and maintaining a regular care routine will help extend the life of your plating.

As each piece is handmade using natural materials, slight variations in colour, oxidation, stone characteristics, size, and detailing may occur—making every item uniquely yours.
